I am passionate about people, more importantly, about assisting them in reaching their full potential in life. After completing my teaching qualification I enrolled for further post-graduate studies in Educational Psychology as psychology has always been my dream. I have since completed my Honours degree in Educational Psychology and thereafter my Masters degree and graduated cum laude in the latter. I have been working as a School Psychologist at a high school for the past 8 years and have loved every minute thereof. Combining this experience with my initial training as a teacher I believe that I have a comprehensive background and understanding of what is required on an emotional, social and intellectual level in order for a child/adolescent to reach their full potential within a school environment.

I love working with children, adolescents and young adults on an individual basis and within their family contexts. Working within a Bio-Ecological framework, I acknowledge that people and their environments (as well as the various systems in these environments) influence each other. In some cases it is necessary to work with the family system as a whole in order to facilitate sustainable change and growth in the individual. We have all been uniquely created and therefore I do not believe that one size fits all. Consequently I utilise various therapy models and I adapt my therapeutic techniques to address the specific needs of each individual. My approach in the assessment process aims to identify both the difficulties in need of support as well as the strengths that the individual can utilise to help them excel. Ultimately I work from the belief that every single person is capable of change and growth. When we can discover our strengths, face the truth about our weaknesses and hurts, we have the capacity to cultivate hope.

There are no hopeless situations. Only people without hope.
